On November 1, 2015, the Science Museum of Western Virginia will present our 2nd Annual Time Traveler Pi-Miler race. Why Pi Miler? Because we’re the Science Museum and we like to make things educational. At 3.14 miles, it’s almost the same distance as a 5K. More importantly, why Nov. 1? Well, that’s where the fun comes in. November 1 happens to be the day that clocks “fall back” … so by starting the race at 1:50 a.m. (yep, AM), runners will actually finish the race before they started. Pretty cool, huh?
The Time Traveler Pi-Miler Race is the Science Museum of Western Virginia’s signature fundraising event for Fall 2015. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support our cause of making science and technology education available and accessible to all citizens in western Virginia.
We’ve changed the age brackets for the kids and we’ll have all new awards for the top finishers. It’s all of the crazy fun of last year plus some new craziness. We’re not certain you’ll see Doc Brown again, but there will be some other time traveling doctors there! Also, the race begins just after Halloween night, so we hope to see characters of all kinds at the race (costumes are encouraged for runners and for their support crews).
Online registration for the 2015 Time Traveler Pi-Miler Race closed at 11:00 pm EST on October 30, 2015. Late registration will begin at 1:00 am at the pre-race event at 210 Reserve Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016 and the fee will be $35.
