The Science Museum is seeing green during the month of March

In March, we will be hosting two fun events with Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline. We’ve had a great time working with GSVSC to create a couple of exciting events for the Girl Scouts in our area.

Daisy Day with Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline (March 7)

The girls will be working on the clover petal which is all about using resources wisely. Our Storybook Science program will be about recycling/upcycling and will be part of the Daisy Day fun. Daisy Day also includes:

• Planting a seed in a biodegradable container—the seed will come from one of the flowers in our Butterfly Garden
• Pledging to use our resources wisely by signing a banner describing ways to conserve, recycle, and upcycle
• Creating a pin to serve as a reminder of their pledge

Girl Scout Juniors Camp In (March 20-21)

The Girl Scout Juniors will be working on Detective badges on Friday evening and camping in the museum that night. This exciting overnight stay will include:

• A real mystery to solve
• A crime scene
• A scavenger hunt
• A “ Cracking the code” class where they will learn about secret codes
• A “Crime Lab” class where we will learn about a lot of different types of evidence that might be left at the scene of a crime
• Free time on the museum floor
• Dinner and breakfast provided by the museum

Seniors and Ambassadors may volunteer at this event, as it may meet requirements for the Truth Seeker badge. Click Here for more information about the Camp In. You must register through the Girl Scouts of Virginia Skyline for the event.
