The Science Museum of Western Virginia and Macaroni Kid Roanoke’s Glow-In-The-Dark Egg Hunt!
Forget pastel colors and back yard snooze-fests: we’re bringing the traditional egg hunt to life with neon decorations, UV face paint and eggs that glow-in-the-dark! The Science Museum of Western Virginia and Macaroni Kid Roanoke are teaming up to throw Roanoke’s most ‘egg-stravagant’ egg hunt of the year. Make sure you get your tickets early as this is a sell-out event; you do not want to miss out and be left with egg on your face!
This neon egg-stravaganza will see egg hunters canvass the entire 4th floor of the Science Museum as it is transformed into an egg-hunter’s adventure paradise with over 1000 glow-in-the-dark eggs! We encourage all hunters to wear bright colors that will light up under the black lights and create an even more awesome experience!
Every egg will include a small, age-appropriate prize and special prizes will be available to hunters who find one of 10 GOLDEN EGGS during the hunt! The event will also feature an ‘egg-ccessible’ hunt for those with sensory disorders.
When: Saturday April 20th, 10am-5pm
Where: Science Museum of Western Virginia, 1 Market Sq SE, Roanoke, VA 24011
Tickets: $6 for hunters and non-hunters over 2yrs of age (includes admission to the Science Museum!)
The event includes an ‘Egg-ccessible’ Egg Hunt, proudly sponsored by FAVE, Facilitating Awareness and Valuable Experiences, as an Ability Inclusive Egg Hunt for children with additional physical, communication and cognitive needs. Featuring a visual activity sheet with clear instructions, this hunt has ‘egg-stra’ accommodations that make it suitable for individuals with sensory disorders!

Can my child participate in the Sensory Hunt if they do not have a sensory disorder?
The Sensory Hunt is designed specifically to accommodate children with specific needs and therefore we ask that neurotypical children take part in one of the other egg hunts. If you are not sure whether your child fits the appropriate criteria for the Sensory Hunt, please contact SMWV Marketing Director, Koren Smith, at email@example.com.
Do I or my child need to buy a ticket if we are not participating in a hunt?
Yes. All visitors over the age of 2 years, even if they are not participating in a hunt, must still purchase a ticket. Tickets include admission to the 5th floor of the Science Museum and also include additional event activities.
Can I stay in the museum after my hunt has finished?
Of course! You are welcome to stay and explore the 5th floor of the Science Museum for as long as you like until 5pm.
Can I leave the museum and come back later?
Absolutely! Just be sure to be ready to show your ticket again at the check-in desks.
I have 2 children who fit in to different age categories. Can they both participate in the same hunt?
We have age categories to give all hunters equal opportunities to enjoy the hunt and make it fair for other participants. Each hunter must participate in the hunt that corresponds to their appropriate age. If you have further questions or concerns, please contact SMWV Marketing Director, Koren Smith, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Are prizes guaranteed for all participants?
We have designed the hunt to give all hunters the best chance to find at least 1 egg during the hunt and have measures in place to give extra help to those who are struggling. However, we cannot guarantee that every participant will find an egg before other
