TOY JOY, a permanent exhibit opening at the Science Museum of Western Virginia this week features larger than life versions of toys and modern amusements, inviting patrons of all ages to PLAY! “Play is our brain’s preferred method of learning and connecting, not only to crucial concepts, but to one another,” says Executive Director, Rachel Hopkins.
Toy Joy is just one piece of news from the museum these days. “The immensely exciting changes at the museum are solely due to the support and involvement from our community, and the dedicated staff at the museum,” says Hopkins. In fact, in January of 2017, the Ceres Foundation challenged the museum to raise $50,000 in new and increased contributions to which the foundation will match, dollar for dollar. “Opportunities such as that from the Ceres Foundation reinforce our passion for science and hard work…we know we are heading in the right direction!,” exclaims Hopkins.
